Physical Disabilities

Physical disabilities can be something your born with, you can inherit them from generations, develop a physical disability as your grow older, or an unsuspected incident can happen that can make you physical disabled. Being physically disabled can happen to anyone, any gender, and age. Some disabilities can be treated with types of physical therapy while others are a life time effect.
Adolescents who are born with physical disabilities usually live a happy live. They are close with their families, and have a good relationship at school. Although they have a good relationship with fellow class mates and teachers, their post-secondary doesn’t usually take place in their futures. With that being said, since their physical disabilities are the reason why they don’t take education feather, they don’t get the right education they need to find employment. This can lead them to being in poverty since the jobs that they have usually makes minimum wage. I wanted to make this a point because this is where it all starts, where poverty for people with physical disabilities starts at a young age because of the limitations that are given with being physically disabled.
People with physical disabilities have limitations because no matter how much they would want to do it, its sad but they aren’t able to do it. Limitations in the work force are not being able to have training for jobs such as the army, or carpentry. These jobs need to have physical strength and people with physical disabilities can’t come up with it to do so. This limits them to jobs that could make 30-60 thousand dollars a year.
Since women typically have a hard time in the work force without a disability. Women with a disability have a harder time when trying to get education and training they need to be taken serious. I personally think that at some point, women with disabilities have somewhat of an advantage over men, because typically women don’t do physical work while working. Not saying that men can’t do jobs like a receptionist, but as society labels people in the work force, typically it’s a women working at a desk job. It still is however; lower than the man’s status’ with a physical disability just because of the social “norm.”
People with physical disabilities usually have no control on what happens to them physically. In most situations it will be something that comes onto them, without them looking for it. I personally feel that people with physical disabilities have a strength in them that is stronger than any other person who don’t have a physical disability because they will always have to work harder for what they want.

  1. It is a matter of learning and awareness when we try to see how the people with physical disability are trying to come up in this competitive world. The fact you presented is definitely thinkable to everybody. Still we lack the effective social policy to properly address this issue.

  2. I like what you did with this topic. This is in direct contrast to what I originally thought. In my mind, I looked at in the aspect that a physical disability wouldn't really affect people at getting high paying jobs due to the fact that most low-paying jobs are service type jobs and high-paying jobs are high paying (ex. a worker at mcdonalds (low paying) would have to move quickly, whereas a accountant (higher paying job) would not require any mobility. It is really disappointing to see how much of the constraints that these people face are socially constructed.

  3. It is true in ways that women might have an advantage, but men will physical disabilities still get more jobs then women. Its really unfair that people arn't getting jobs for that reason. A lot of people with physical disabilities can still work just like everyone else, but they are just not given the chance.
